For WSR 2008, we increased the total number of ensemble members that are used to calculate the impact of targeted observations from 111 to 131. This includes 51 members from ECMWF and 80 members from NCEP. The G-IV is not available to the WSR 2008 due to installation of new instrumentation. New tracks are designed for NOAA P-3 which is available starting in Feburary 2008. The Canadian Meteorological Center's ensemble products are still under testing stage. Below is one example showing the Expected forecast error reduction in verification region due to adaptive observation along each flight track and around any grid point.
