NAM 32km Tiled Output

NAM model output on grid #221 (32km Lambert Conformal projection) is available in small subsets, called tiles. These files contain the same information as the full-field grid #221 file (AWIP32) with the same precision, only over a smaller domain.

NAM tiles are now available on the ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov server in /pub/data/nccf/com/nam/prod/nam.YYYYMMDD/tiles.tHHz The directory for the current day contains the two most recent cycles (00z, 06z, 12z, 18z), and the tiles directories are listed at the very bottom of the list. Inside these subdirectories are files called:

nam.tCCz.AWIP32HH.YY

where:

• CC is the model cycle (00,06,12,18)
• HH is the forecast hour
• YY is the tile number (see below)

Note that you will also find 12-km tiles in this directory with file names of nam.tCCz.AWIP218.HH.YY.
